Olathe’s City Council recently approved a measure to lease a library space for two years.
The space is in the Santa Fe Square Shopping Center on Mur-Len Road, and offers 9,500 square feet to house the material. The temporary facility will hold all Indian Creek Library’s collections in children, teen, and adult sections. It is anticipated that the leased space will open late in August.
The temporary space will be in use while Olathe acquires another space for a permanent library. The permanent facility will take over the former Hy-Vee, which comprises 68,000 square feet. Renovating this location could take up to 24 months.
Olathe and the library updated the Library Master Plan recently. Among other things, the plan calls for at least doubling Indian Creek Library, if not enlarging it even more. Reasons for the renovations include a lack of parking, overcrowding, and a significant lack of space for the collections. Parts of the plan were implemented ahead of schedule because a water line broke at Indian Creek in March 2016, flooding the foundation’s subbase and causing erosion.
Agencies like these could benefit from working with flyer printing companies, which can create sheets of information that can be distributed or mailed. The sheets can explain matters like reasons for changing locations, problems and their solutions, opening dates, and other pertinent facts for members of the community.
