Olathe to host athletic event

The Johnson County Park and Recreation District will soon proudly present the Kill Creek Park Coed Triathlon and Duathlon. The USA Triathlon-sanctioned event is para-triathlon friendly and the last of its kind for the season.

The triathlon features a 500m swim, a 10.6-mile bike ride, and a 3.1-mile run. The duathlon includes a 1.5-mile run, 10.6-mile bike ride, and finishes with a 3.1-mile run. New and experienced athletes have the option of participation in one of three categories: individual, relay, or Athena/Clydesdale. Medals will be awarded to all participants, and the overall top three male and female runners from specific age groups will be presented with awards.

Registration fees are $95 for the individual triathlon, $150 for the relay triathlon, $85 for the duathlon and $140 for the relay duathlon. All fees are non-refundable, and those interested in attending must register by August 5, 2022, to receive a race t-shirt.

Race packets will be available for pickup on August 12, 2022, at Mill Creek Activity Center, 6518 Vista Drive in Shawnee. Those who register late can pick up their packets on the day of the race from 5:30 am to 7:15 am.

Banner printing is an eye-catching way for organizers to provide information about events such as these.
