The Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm will host a children's themed Independence Day event this July in Olathe.
The event is titled the Day Out With Frank and Ella - Independence Day. It focuses on the younger children of the Mahaffie family who founded and ran the venue, giving children the opportunity to explore history in a hands-on way.
Attendees will be transported to farm life in the 1850s and 1860s, and experience what it was like growing up in Kansas during the great migration Westward. The Mahaffie family house gained historical prominence for its role in providing lodging to travelers passing through the town. Today, it is museum and a location for historical preservation.
The Days Out With Frank and Ella is a recurring affair for the location and the theme changes weekly. For the Independence Day occasion, patrons may look forward to singing patriotic songs, blacksmith and cookstove demonstrations, as well as signing Copies of the Declaration of Independence. All minors in attendance will need to be accompanied by an adult at all times.
The cost for entry to this event will be $7. This will include one stagecoach ride for the participant. Children aged four and under will be free. Promotional Pens can make great commemorative items for adults at events like this one.
This event will take place on Friday, July 7 at the Mahaffie House, which is located at 1200 East Kansas City Road, Olathe. It begins at 10:00 am and ends at 4:00 pm.
