The history of American girls and women, and their lives and contributions will be celebrated with an upcoming special event at the Ernie Miller Nature Center in Olathe.
Titled ‘Daring American Women’, the event sees women in period costumes tell stories of the triumphs and tragedies of females throughout American history. Women representing periods in history include a Native American who was here before Europeans arrived, women in the Revolutionary War, pioneer women, women from the Civil War, and Rosie the Riveter from the Second World War.
Attendees are encouraged to get in the spirit of the day by dressing in the fashion of their favorite period in American history, and to bring their favorite doll. A tea party to which the adults, children, and dolls are invited is in the works.
The event is suitable for everyone, but any children must have an adult accompanying them, and a group of five children must have one adult chaperone.
‘Daring American Women’ is scheduled for tomorrow, March 25, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The Nature Center is on Kansas 7 Highway in Olathe, and advance registration is required.
Events like this can benefit if organizers work with a flyer printing company to create handouts that explain the subject matter, so people can learn more at their leisure.
