Since 2001, summertime in Olathe has brought great entertainment and live music, as Olathe Live! performers put on fantastic shows to raise money for charities. The 2018 season is now underway.
The city’s website offers some tips for attendees. To get a good spot, people need to come early. Seating is on the lawn, so people need to bring blankets or lawn chairs; they can also bring along coolers with non-alcoholic drinks. Dogs on leashes are welcome as well, but recording video or audio is prohibited, as is alcohol. Proceeds from each concert go to a different charity.
Upcoming acts include Ruthie Foster, with Lester Estelle and Friends, who will appear at Frontier Park; the 531st Air Force Band, who will perform at the Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm; Liverpool with The M80s, appearing at the Olathe Community Center, raising money for the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund; Landslide with Synchronicity, appearing at Frontier Park on behalf of Kid’s TLC; and the Gibson Brothers with Kelly Hunt, at the Olathe Community Center for the benefit of the Mahaffie and Olathe Parks & Recreation Foundations.
Foster’s concert is June 22; the Air Force Band plays June 24; Liverpool is scheduled for July 6; Landslide, July 20; and the Gibson Brothers on September 21.
