A production of the New Line Cinema film, Elf Jr., is to be held in Olathe this December.
Elf the Musical Jr. will be a live recreation following the same plot as the 2003 film, which features a young orphan who is taken to the North Pole after accidentally crawling into Santa’s bag. When fitting in with the other elves proves difficult, it becomes apparent that he is different from the rest. After discovering that he is, in fact, human, he sets out on a journey to find his birth family, and ends up teaching them, and all of New York, the true meaning of Christmas in the process.
This new production is put on by the Pioneer Trail Middle School. It will feature a cast made completely of students. There will be singing, dancing, and performing, as each member brings out their Christmas spirit for this classic.
The play’s music was produced by Tony award winners and nominees Matthew Sklar, Chad Beguelin, Thomas Meehan, and Bob Martin.
