The City of Olathe recently issued a request for bids for work at the Blackbob Pump Station; the bids will need to be returned soon.
The work involves replacing the generator at the pump station and is listed as Project No. 5-C-040-18. Specific tasks include demolishing the current diesel generator and finding a replacement and installing it. It will also be necessary to demolish and replace the transfer switch, which is automatic; the fuel day tank; and any systems associated with the generator's operation.
In addition, the contractor will be expected to consider what mechanical, structural, and architectural improvements need to be made to the facility to make sure the new systems are properly supported. Drawings and specifications for the project can be viewed at the Public Works office in Olathe, where they are on file. Sealed bids may be submitted until March 13, at 11.00 am Olathe time. In order to be accepted, bids must be submitted electronically, and a bid bond must accompany each proposal. In addition, in order to be able to submit a bid, interested contractors must attend a meeting at the pumping station on February 26 at 10.00 am, local time. The station is on West 151st Street.
