Machete course teaches new skills to Olathe residents

Aspiring woodworkers and artisans will want to leave an open space in the agenda next month, as a machete handle-making course is stopping in Olathe.

The Machete Handle-Making course will start in a few weeks, bringing aspiring artisans together to learn the basics of forming and attaching a handle to a machete. Attendees will receive instructions on creating hardwood handle scales for machetes. The course will include cutting, drilling, gluing, and shaping wooden handles.

Participants will learn new skills using a bandsaw, spindle sander, and drill press. They will also use these tools and techniques to align, drill, and glue the handles into place on their machetes with guidance from the course instructor. The last step of the process taught in the course will introduce the methods for staining and finishing the handle. Business card printing is a fantastic way for course instructors to network and find students for such learning events.

Participants will receive a 15% discount on items purchased at the event venue. Interested parties can contact the instructor to enjoy a tailored, 3-hour learning session. The instructor will allow guests to learn at their own pace.

The Rockler Woodworking and Hardware store will host the event on Saturday, July 6th, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. The course costs $100 and can be enrolled online.
