Runners will be able to enjoy the sport they love and raise money for a good cause soon.
The “Miles for Mark” 1.5-Mile Walk & 5K Fun Run is on the calendar and will be held in Olathe's Heritage Park. Organizers invite those who cannot join the event in person to run a virtual race, or to donate; all the money raised will go to benefit the American Cancer Society.
Organizers also list three reasons for organizing the race. First, they would like to encourage everyone to exercise to improve or maintain their fitness. Second, they are fundraising, and third, the day is fun, including a swag bag, coffee, donuts, and friendship.
The “Miles for Mark” races will be held August 8. The 5K is to take place from 9:00 am until 11:00 am, and the fee is $35. The 1.5-mile walk will take place the same day and time, but the fee is a slightly lower 30. For those who would prefer a virtual event, the fee is $40. The registration period for all three races ends on August 1, at 11.59 pm.
The “Mark” for whom the race is named fought a long battle with cancer, and now his family has dedicated the race to his memory. The first year was so successful the organizers are now trying to make this an annual event, and this is the second year. Banner printing can provide markers for outdoor events like this.
