Forest bathing promotes health and wellness in Olathe

A natural healing session will be held in Olathe next month, providing area residents with a setting to discover rejuvenation and peace of mind.

The Awake and Renew Forest Bathing Session will allow interested parties to immerse themselves in a natural setting to promote mental and physical wellness. The session is based on the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku, which involves the therapeutic practice of spending time in forests. It is a traditional practice for preventative care.

Some research has suggested that forest bathing can help participants to improve sleep quality, lower blood pressure, reduce stress, and boost focus. Participants will be able to slow down and be immersed in a peaceful setting. The session will be led by park naturalist MC Rose, who is an Association of Nature and Forest Therapy trainee. Brochure printing can help event leaders share more information with attendees to enhance their learning experience at such gatherings.

Interested parties are asked to check the weather and dress for comfort, as the event will be held outdoors and proceed in most weather conditions. Snacks and water are also encouraged for a comfortable and therapeutic experience.

Registered guests can meet at the Ernie Miller Park Program Shelter #2 on Tuesday, April 15. The forest bathing session will start at 6:30 AM and end at 8:00 AM. Tickets are available online, starting at $10 per participant.
