Recently, a representative of Holmes 111 LLC, which is building a hotel in Olathe, told the city council the developer plans to build a second hotel close to the one now under construction.
Eric Gonsher, speaking on behalf of the developer, said the second hotel will be a Marriott TownePlace Suites offering 112 rooms. It will be sited at the northwest corner of Olathe Station, the shopping mall where Holmes is currently building a Courtyard by Marriott. The Courtyard will provide 119 rooms in a four-story structure, and should be open this July. Operators of new ventures like this have a chance to use graphic design to create Letterheads and other materials specific to their site.
Gonsher also revealed that Holmes was approached by Courtyard by Marriott, asking about the possibility of building the TownePlace Suites facility. The hotel will stand on the site that had originally been designated as a restaurant with 4,000 square feet. That design was first considered in 2017.
One of the reasons for the change may be that it has been difficult for the developers to find restaurant tenants for either the projected 4,000-square-foot space, or for a proposed restaurant covering 10,000 square feet, since the area already has a large number of eateries. Instead of developing two spaces, Gonsher said Holmes will build one restaurant close to the proposed TownePlace Suites.
