City gets educated on food sustainability

The Kansas State Research and Extension (KSRE) will host a meat market workshop this February and March. It will be sponsored by the Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education SARE.

The aim of the meat market workshop will be to help inform meat producers about business regulations and strategies. The workshop will be held on different dates at different locations, each location will provide the same content in the same time frame. With these educational events, the KSRE hopes to also improve the effectiveness of food distribution locally and regionally. At the events, a certification on sales scale will also be offered by the Kansas Department of Agriculture KDA to interested attendees who have paid registration.

The events will feature experts in this field, among others. The cost to attend each event will be $20, and scholarships are also being provided to assist with attendance costs. To register for an event, individuals can head here. Those who have general questions are encouraged to contact Erica Blair at elblair@ksu.edu.

Brochure printing will be a great way for attendees to obtain a hard copy of information provided at events such as these.

The event will be held on February 23 in Olathe, and dates are also sate for Wichita (February 3) and Parsons (March 3). All events will start at 10:00 am and end at 3:00 pm.
