Second Helpings offers culinary training positions

Underemployed or unemployed adults in Indianapolis and central Indiana now have a chance to receive free training for culinary jobs through an organization known as Second Helpings.

Workers at Second Helpings rescue perishable and prepared foods, use it to prepare nutritious meals, and distribute the meals to 80 other organizations dedicated to feeding the hungry.

Since Second Helpings was founded in 1998, the organization has trained more than 600 adults for jobs in the culinary industry via its Culinary Job Training Program. Next month, it is introducing a new job training effort. The course will last seven weeks, and like others, it will prepare students to work in culinary positions.

Anyone who would like to learn about the free training is encouraged to attend one of two information meetings still remaining this month. They will be held at Second Helpings, which is located in the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Center on Southeastern Avenue in Indianapolis. One of them takes place on Monday, October 17, at 2:00 pm. The next is on Tuesday, October 25, at 10:00 am.

There are a number of requirements prospective students need to meet to attend the course, such as adhering to standards of dress, and attending classes as required, and on time.

Agencies like these can benefit by working with brochure printers who can create Booklets that explain classes and requirements in detail.
