Indianapolis STEM organization preps for National Convention

Next month, Indianapolis will host SHPE Region 6 Spring Forward: Road to the National Convention; this is a two-day event in preparation for the upcoming convention of STEM professionals.

The SHPE stands for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, which is a professional organization that serves as the nation’s leading organization in advancing Hispanic and Latinx students and professionals in STEM-related fields. There are seven regions of SHPE throughout the country, and Region 6 covers Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Wisconsin.

The Road to the National Convention event is considered Region 6’s spring mixer in preparation for the STEM National Convention in October. The event will bring together community leaders, industry partners, and university chapters for two energetic days of collaboration, learning, and networking.

Attendees will enjoy career-driven workshops, graduate-school preparation, programming, and technical deep dives. Students will have a chance to meet influential leaders, while industry professionals can take the opportunity to give back to the community.

Academic and professional conferences will often offer attendees plenty of opportunities for networking with their peers or potential mentors. As such, attendees may decide to update their Business Cards to hand out to those they connect with at events like this.

The SHPE Region 6 event is scheduled for April 10 and April 11. It will be held at 1220 Waterway Boulevard, Indianapolis.
