Indianapolis to dig into local geology at rock fest

Next month, Geofest will return to Indianapolis, bringing with it a multitude of rock- and mineral-related activities and vendors for local gem connoisseurs and fossil fiends to get excited over.

The festival will be held at the Indiana State Museum, which tells the story of the state of Indiana from its ancient origins to the present day. The museum was founded in 1862 as a small building housing a modest collection of rocks and minerals, and has grown to an impressive flagship museum and 11 historic sites. Serving as a central hub for learning, discovery, and community, the museum hosts a variety of different events throughout the year.

Geofest is an annual festival celebrating all things fossils, minerals, and rocks. Attendees are invited to explore three floors of vendors exhibiting their minerals for display and purchase. There will also be plenty of hands-on activities, community partner booths, and even a live concrete mixing truck on display. In celebration of America’s 250th birthday, attendees are also encouraged to dig into the history of Indiana’s geological makeup.

Vendors preparing for exhibitions like this may decide to invest in local poster printing services to Print out professional Posters to use at their booths.

The Geofest is scheduled to take place from February 20 to February 22. Indiana State Museum can be found at 650 West Washington Street.
