Neil Diamond announces Indianapolis appearance

Pop music legend and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Neil Diamond is going on tour next year, and is stopping in Indianapolis in May.

His concert coincides with the Carb Day concert held at the Motor Speedway every year, though the two events are not affiliated. Track officials have not yet announced who will headline their concert, but Diamond's plans are firm.

Carb Day is short for ‘Carburetion Day’, the Friday before the Indy 500 when the last practice session is held. The name comes from the fact that that Friday was the last day when teams could give their carburetors a tune-up in conditions that were similar to those they might encounter during the race. Although qualified race cars have not used carburetors since 1963, the name stuck.

The tour marks Diamond’s fifth decade as a performer. The tour kicks off in Fresno, California, and will stop in Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, Louisville, and St. Louis, as well as Indianapolis.

Diamond will appear May 26, 2017, at 8:00 pm, at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse. American Express cardholders can order tickets now, and members of the general public can order theirs beginning December 9. Tickets are available through LiveNation.com.

Events like this can benefit if organizers work with flyer printing companies, which can create mailers announcing goings-on well in advance.
