Kimbal Musk, brother of Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, is building a restaurant on Indianapolis's Massachusetts Avenue, where he plans to serve food roasted in a wood-fired oven.
Musk is partnering with The Kitchen Restaurant Group, which is based in Boulder, Colorado, to open Hedge Row early in August this year. The new eatery will be located on the ground floor of the Marietta Building, which is currently under construction.
Don Degnan, president of the Kitchen Restaurant Group, said the oven is what makes Hedge Row stand out from other nearby restaurants. The oven is visible to diners anywhere in the dining room, which seats 135. There are another 40 seats available on the patio, which will also feature a bar and fire pits.
One of the restaurant’s specialties is charred veggies cooked in the oven. Degnan said there will be fish and meat dishes too, but the vegetables are the highlight. He describes them as having a rustic, hearty flavor.
Hedge Row will have a full bar and will concentrate on seasonal produce within the menu. These include carrots, beets, and cauliflower, available both at lunch and dinner.
