Longstanding pavilion gets new moniker

For many years, the building that welcomed people to the Indiana State Fairgrounds was the Blue Ribbon Pavilion. Now, the building has a new sponsor and a new name

As of April 9, it has been known as the Elements Financial Blue Ribbon Pavilion. Officials announced the name change that Thursday, and the building now sports a new sign, which is a symbol of the five-year partnership between the State Fair Commission and Elements Financial.

Both partners are enthusiastic about the relationship. State Fair Commission executive director Cindy Hoye said partnering with a company based in Indiana was a “perfect fit” with which to rebrand the pavilion. Lisa Schlehuber, the CEO of Elements Financial, which was Eli Lilly Federal Credit Union, said the sponsorship is a terrific way for the company to increase the public’s awareness of the institution. She believes Elements’ business culture fits in perfectly with the fairgrounds and the family feelings it engenders, and states her company is there to work with them and help to build the community.

The Blue Ribbon Pavilion was built in 1924, when it was used primarily to showcase the sheep that won blue ribbons at the yearly fair. It was renovated in 1999, and used to host exhibits and other events.

Elements and the commissioners might consider working with a banner printing company to create a festive banner displaying the new name.
