Jazzster to make Indianapolis appearance

A celebrated saxophonist will be Indianapolis soon to rock the city.

Boney James was born James Oppenheim in Massachusetts, where, as an eight-year-old, he studied clarinet. Two years later, he switched to the saxophone, and when he was a teenager, he discovered the Motown sound, and the music of Grover Washington, Jr., a jazz saxophonist.

His family moved to Los Angeles when he was 14, where he joined a fusion band. He also worked as a session musician for artists like Teena Marie and the Isley Brothers. In 1992, James released “Trust,” his first solo album. Since then, he has gone on to sell over three million records throughout the world in the process of releasing over a dozen albums. Among his accolades are a Soul Train Award, and two Image Awards from the NAACP.

James is known for his endurance, seemingly never running out of breath. He was honored by Billboard, who put him in the third spot on their Contemporary Jazz Artist of the Decade list.

A review of Boney James in live performance says:

"Unbelievable! A non-stop wonderful show for almost 2 hours. Boney seems almost unreal in how long he can hold a note. Don't miss this!"

Boney James will bring his Solid Gold Tour 2020 to the Old National Centre in Indianapolis on September 26, at 8:00 pm. Poster printing is often used to promote events like this.
