A Cincinnati-based restaurant, the Eagle Food & Beer Hall, has opened its first location outside of its home town, and has chosen Indianapolis as the spot for its latest store.
The restaurant has moved into the former Front Page Sports Bar & Grill, one of a number of eateries moving into spaces along Massachusetts Avenue.
The restaurant specializes in fried chicken, but its recipes vary from other chicken restaurants, making it a different option for diners.
Patrons can order a quarter, half, or whole chicken. The birds are from Ohio Farms, and are free-range Amish chickens with a crispy peppered batter. The restaurant provides a honey sauce made with hot peppers that is extra-spicy, but is designed to complement the chicken. The restaurant says sides are generously sized and can be shared or, if there is just too much, taken home. They include staples like mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, grits, and spoonbread served in a skillet accompanied by maple butter.
Currently, the restaurant is serving only dinner, opening its doors at 4:00 pm. However, there are plans to serve lunch as well in the future, and to expand to an outdoor space.
