Indianapolis welcomes beer businesses

Beer drinkers in Indianapolis have two new spots to try.

It was confirmed this month that a new brewery is opening, and a supplier of home brewing supplies is now open for a soft launch.

The Blind Own Brewery will open next week. Located at the corner of Binford Boulevard and 62nd Street, it is hard to miss the restaurant and brewery, which together cover 10,000 square feet. The brewery is one of the establishments under the umbrella of the Lux Restaurant Group.

Alex Peterson is the head brewer at the Blind Owl, and says the brewery will offer five of its own brews, which are a pilsner, a honey brown, an IPA, a Marzen, and an American Wheat beer. The honey for the honey brown will be sourced from bee colonies located in the back yard of the brewery.

Indianapolis residents who want to brew their own beer now have a place to get supplies too, after Bill Jimerson opened his store, Final Gravity Homebrew Supply, with a July 1 soft launch and an official grand opening still to come. Jimerson also plans to give both beginners and advanced brewers guidance.

The Blind Owl is scheduled to open the week of July 13, and Final Gravity will open officially on August 12.

Owners of both establishments could work with a flyer printing company on a handout containing a coupon to be distributed at the location on opening day.
