Indianapolis to feel the blues next month

Six leading blues artists are coming to Indianapolis for a major event.

Sir Charles Jones will appear, along with Nellie “Tiger” Travis, Theodis Ealey, Latimore, Pokey Bear, and Lenny Williams.

Jones is a singer/songwriter whose style incorporates everything from gospel, to fusion, to jazz, to blues.

Nellie “Tiger” Travis is from Mississippi, and is known for her fiery interpretation of Southern soul music. After several moves, she wound up in Chicago, a city noted for its blues scene, where she worked with legends like Buddy Guy.

Theodis Ealey is a bandleader, guitarist, and blues singer. He began playing guitar when he was four, wound up in Atlanta, and broke through in 2004 with the album “Stand Up In It,” which spawned a single of the same name that spent 21 weeks on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart, including No. 1.

Latimore hails from Tennessee, and is a R&B and blues singer, pianist, and songwriter. In 2017, he was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame. His best known hit, which was a No. 1 R&B song, is “Let's Straighten It Out.”

Pokey Bear is an energetic vocalist from Baton Rouge, and Lenny Williams is a vocalist best known for his three-year stint as lead singer for the soul group Tower of Power.

These artists will appear at the 2nd Annual Indy Blues Festival, set for October 3 at 8:00 pm, at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum in Indianapolis. Poster printing can be effective in promoting events like this.
