Indianapolis terrarium class to get whimsy

Next month, Alice’s Garden will present the Terrarium-Building Class in Indianapolis for anyone interested in learning how to build a tropical plant terrarium.

Alice’s Garden is a small garden center in Indianapolis’ west side that offers both plants and plant-related gifts. The garden center also hosts special events and classes revolving around gardening, plants, and arts and crafts, such as the terrarium class in January.

The class will guide attendees through a step-by-step process of how to create a beautiful, whimsically decorated terrarium filled with tropical plants and succulents. While students work, they will also learn about the history of terrariums, which started in the Victorian era. Ticket purchases include the student’s choice of either a large (5” x 6.75”) open terrarium or a small (5” by 4.75”) terrarium, soil, charcoal, two tropical miniature plants, and a printout guide on the maintenance and care of the terrarium. There will also be special add-ons for purchase such as mushrooms, crystals, and geodes.

Workshops utilizing printout guides, such as this one, may get their printed materials to be printed out at local Print shops that can offer bulk printing at an affordable price.

The terrarium-building class will take place on Saturday, January 13 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Alice's Garden can be found at 3205 West 71st Street. Tickets are $40 per person.
