Indianapolis summit to discuss college access

The Indiana Early College Summit will take place in Indianapolis this June to bring together educators, counselors, and policymakers to discuss how to provide more equitable college access.

The purpose of the Early College Summit is to reduce or eliminate the financial, academic, and psychological barriers that keep up to 47% of Indiana high school students from pursuing and succeeding in higher education. The summit aims to bring educational professionals and policymakers together to discuss strategies and solutions to this issue, especially focusing on the socioeconomically disadvantaged, first generation, and minority students, who face even higher hurdles to college accessibility.

The event will feature keynote speeches highlighting inclusion, equity, and student voice and agency. There will also be presentations from prominent figures on hot topics such as rigorous instruction, evidence-based practices, student supports, and policy changes. Over 25 breakout sessions are planned to gather new ideas put forward by attendees. To wrap the event up, there will be panel discussions with key leaders to discuss future strategies and what will come next.

Attendees to educational forums like this will often bring a supply of Business Cards to hand out during networking sessions to solidify professional connections.

The summit is scheduled for Monday, June 5 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. It will take place at Ben Davis High School located at 1200 North Girls School Road. Tickets are $150.
