Indianapolis restaurant serves meal to help hurricane victims

On September 10, diners who went to Traders Mill Grill & Bar took part in a special brunch to raise money to transport water to the areas hardest hit by the recent hurricanes.

Deb Watson is the co-owner of the Indianapolis bar, but her parents live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. They made it out just before the airport shut down, but Watson kept thinking not only of them, but of the thousands of people in Florida and Texas who have lost everything to the recent events. She decided to help by cooking a special meal to raise funds to help get water to the stricken areas.

Watson had the idea for the brunch after she talked to the Cumberland Police Department and the Hancock County Sheriff's Office about the bottled water they had collected to help in relief efforts.

She was told there have been over 5,000 cases of water collected, and more is still being given to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, which is also storing it. The difficulty is finding a way to transport it to Florida and Texas, which is where brunch comes in. All the money Watson took in at the brunch will go to pay for gas and the trucks to take the water south.
