This Independence Day will see an Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social, due to be held at the President Benjamin Harrison Home located at 1230 N. Delaware Street in Indianapolis, Indiana, taking place from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm.
This is the time to celebrate the nation’s birthday and the hot summer days. This social will have live music and a group of re-enactments on the grounds of President Benjamin Harrison’s home. Guest will join in and sign the declaration of independence with a Thomas Jefferson look-alike, performed by actor David Best, tour the Harrison home with a “live from Delaware Street” re-enactment. They can also partake in a historic treasure hunt and a barn raising on the Harrison home’s lawn, while plenty of live music will keep them entertained while they wait for the fireworks to begin. In addition, there will be a special children’s area with creative activities planned for children of all ages
Of course, everybody loves ice-cream, so there will be plenty of cool, refreshing scoops for them to enjoy. There will be a circus, and food will be provided by Blue Bell Ice Cream, Black Diamond BBQ. Plenty of vendors will also be around with their arts and crafts and, at dusk, a spectacular display will light the night sky creating magic and noise.
