Indiana State Fair now in full swing

The Indiana State Fair opened on August 5, and people are heading to the fairgrounds to enjoy this annual event.

There are hundreds of events on the schedule in and around Indianapolis, and fair-goers have a huge variety of activities to choose from. One of them is the ‘2016 Featured Farmers’, celebrating individuals who have received the Hoosier Homestead Award from the Indiana State Department of Agriculture. The award is given to recognize farms that have been in a single family for 100, 150, or 200 years.

Since this is a traditional state fair, there are many exhibits featuring farm animals such as cattle, horses, goats, and sheep, most of which will be judged. A family-friendly area will feature shows and attractions suitable for all ages, and there is live music every day from bands like Night Ranger and Blues Traveler.

The fair runs through August 21, and tickets are $8 in advance or $12 if bought at the gate. Admission is free for children under five. The IndyStar has a special offer for readers: those who buy the paper today (August 8) will be allowed into the fair this Wednesday, August 10, free of charge.

Organizers of events like these can benefit by working with flyer printing companies, which can create handouts that include maps, directions, and complete information about all the activities.
