Downtown Indianapolis to get extended-stay hotel

Two hotel companies are joining forces to finance the building of a Home2Suites, a hotel under the Hilton umbrella.

HRC Hotels LLC, which is a Lansing, Michigan company, and Good Hospitality Services of Valparaiso, will complete the project.

The new hotel will have 106 rooms, and will be sited in the annex of downtown Indianapolis's Consolidated Building, which has been abandoned since 2000. The Consolidated is being renovated into apartments, with retail space on the ground floor. Renovations are being handled by TWG Development, based in Indianapolis.

Converting the old buildings to a new hotel will cost HRC and Good Hospitality approximately $10.5m, with construction expected to start this fall and the opening slated for early 2016. The new hotel will provide employment for approximately 30 people.

The two companies run four other hotels in and around Indianapolis, and say they are very happy to be working on this new property, which reflects their confidence in the Indianapolis market. HRC and Good Hospitality president Jeffrey J. Good noted his companies moved into the warehouse district even before making improvements to Georgia Street, trusting the momentum of the first project to carry them.

Company officials could work with brochure printers to create a brochure to send to commercial real estate brokers, discussing the new retail spaces. They could create a second one for travel agents, describing the hotel.
