Country superstar-in-the-making to visit Indianapolis

He may not be a household name at the moment, but fans of an up-and-coming country singer are betting that will change.

Cody Purvis says he can remember watching his father record “The Wreck of the Southern Crescent” in a studio in Nashville in 1979. At that moment, he knew that what he wanted to do was to entertain people as his living.

He goes on to say that the musicians who have had the most influence on him include old-school country artists such as Conway Twitty, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard. However, the one person who he has idolized most is his father. When his father played in clubs in and near their hometown of North Garden, a Charlottesville, Virginia, suburb, the young Purvis tagged along.

By age 16, Cody was performing himself, and by 2009, The Cody Purvis Band was getting bookings throughout the area. In 2010, Cody won a national talent search, the Colgate Country Countdown, and released his first EP in 2012. He began opening for artists such as Darius Rucker and Peter Frampton, and country legend Travis Tritt asked him to appear on “Real Country” on the USA Network. His fan base continues to grow.

A review of one of his performances says simply:

“Cody put on an awesome event as always.”

Cody Purvis will be at the Tin Roof in Indianapolis on June 19, at 8.00 pm. Flyer printing can be used to provide publicity for events like this.
