Two new factories to bring jobs to Indianapolis area
Indianapolis jobseekers got some good news recently—two new factories are slated to open in the area, bringing jobs with them.
A foam-products manufacturer from New York, and an Italian manufacturer of auto parts plan to set up shop in Marion County.
OMR North America, which is Italian-owned, plans to build a facility in Speedway. The new factory will cost approximately $15m and employ 60 people, who will earn an average of $18 per hour. OMR already has a site on Main Street, which will become its North American headquarters. OMR manufactures auto parts for use in suspensions, brake systems, engines, and elsewhere.
The second firm coming into the area is Opflex Technologies, a manufacturer from St. Johnsville, New York. Opflex will be moving its headquarters to the Western State Industrial Complex in Indianapolis, at 2525 North Shadeland Avenue.
Opflex plans to lease a 50,000 square foot space inside the former Western Electric location. Further, it plans to spend as much as $2m in building improvements and equipment. Opflex makes foam products for gaskets, environmental remediation, sports equipment, and packaging. The company plans to add 47 people by 2019, paying the employees an average of $22 per hour.
Once the companies relocate, their management teams will want to work with stationery printers and business card printing companies, to make sure their letterhead and business cards are both up to date.
