What's Happening in Indianapolis, IN…

Salesforce to expand and rename downtown building

Salesforce.com Inc., a cloud computing company based in San Francisco, is expanding.

The technology giant has leased approximately 250,000 square feet in Chase Tower in downtown Indianapolis – the tallest building in Indiana. Salesforce says its expansion will create about 800 well-paying jobs in the technology sector, and included in the deal is the right of the company to rename the tower, which will soon be known as Salesforce Tower.

Salesforce says it will hire hundreds of new employees by 2021, and also plans to invest approximately $40m over a 10-year period. Salesforce already employs almost 1,400 people in Indianapolis, and will begin moving into the new location early in 2017.

Scott McCorkle, CEO of Salesforce Marketing Cloud, said the jobs being created are attractive high-tech positions, and added experts in all disciplines will be needed, including customer relations, finance, IT, and engineering.

Salesforce already operates in three locations in the city, in the Guaranty building on Meridian Street, the Century building on Pennsylvania Street, and the Gibson building on Capitol Avenue. It will continue to operate at those locations.

As Salesforce starts its move, company officials could work with a brochure printing company to create booklets that describe not only the company’s operations, but also what it is looking for in new employees. It could then make the information available to area employment services.
