Organic grocer opens stores throughout Indianapolis area
Fresh Thyme Farmers Market, a store in a similar vein to Whole Foods and Wild Oats that concentrates on organic and natural foods, is opening new locations.
The chain has only been in business for the last three years, but has already opened three stores in the Indianapolis area, and plans to open three more, bringing the total to six.
The stores are designed so that they resemble a farmers' market, featuring a large number of bulk goods, as well as natural and organic foods. Each Fresh Thyme is approximately 28,000 square feet in size, which makes it about half the size of the average Whole Foods store, but twice as large as a Trader Joe's.
Among the stores' selections are organic coffee beans that are locally roasted, meat raised without hormones, and dairy-free and gluten-free products. Chef L.A. West, who shops at Fresh Thyme, says he can find unusual articles there, such as the frozen baby artichokes he unearthed on his last trip. Vegan Raquel Williams says the store provides fresh, wholesome foods that she enjoys on her diet plan.
Chris Sherrell, Fresh Thyme's CEO, says that the company is committed to providing wholesome, healthy food at an affordable price. Store officials could work with a banner printing company to create festive banners to celebrate the openings of the new stores as they begin operations.
