New brewery opens in Indianapolis
Three young men who were engineering classmates at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology – Jonathan Robinson, Jeff Ready, and Peter Argiris – joined forces to open Centerpoint Brewing with a soft launch on October 28.
They hope to convince people who drink only mainstream beers to try craft beers instead. The new venture is located in the Indianapolis Industrial Complex on Brookside Avenue.
The owners are not concerned about whether or not the craze for craft beers may already have peaked, but instead believe they can attract mainstream beer drinkers by introducing them to high quality products. With that philosophy, they also believe there is plenty of room for their business to grow.
Robinson said that what makes Centerpoint different is its appeal to casual beer drinkers. He says they are not making beers with the most hops or a high alcohol content, but brews that are easy to drink and well-balanced.
Both Robinson and Argiris have been brewing beer at home for several years, but did not really think of opening a brewery until 2012. Robinson said he had no plans to open a business, but Argiris convinced him. At the moment, though, only Argiris is working at the brewery full time; both Ready and Robinson have kept their day jobs.
Companies like these can benefit by creating custom pens to distribute to customers for a short time as a thank you for their patronage.
