Indianapolis literacy non-profit to host final mailing party

Indy Reads will hold its last mailing party of the holiday season next month for those wanting the opportunity to volunteer to write letters on behalf of the organization.

Indy Reads is a non-profit organization that focuses on promoting literacy and English language skills to those who either have literacy difficulties or do not speak English as a first language. The organization’s mission is to empower adults and their families to reach their full potential and engage in their communities in meaningful ways. To keep Indianapolis up to date with the organization’s activities and ask for support, Indy Reads holds mailing parties during the holidays where volunteers can lend a hand by writing update letters to supporters in the community.

December’s mailing party will be the final one of the year, since the other two have already occurred in early November. Volunteers will write the letters onsite at the organization’s location, then stamp, stuff, and prepare the letters to be mailed. As a token of appreciation, all volunteers will receive their choice of either a mug or T-shirt with Indy Read’s signature logo design.

The last mailing party will take place on Friday, December 2 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Indy Reads is located at 1066 Virginia Avenue. As this is a volunteer event, there will be no admission fee.
