Boise’s homeschooled kids who are interested in discovering what makes birds of prey special will be offered an opportunity to meet some feathered friends up close and personal as part of an event hosted by the World Center for Birds of Prey.
The one-and-a-half-hour session will explore raptors such as hawks and eagles, and it will show how the scientific theories the students are learning can be applied to real life. The group will use case studies and other learning tools, and the story of how peregrine falcons were brought back from the brink of extinction will be included.
Along with the other learning, the kids will meet a live bird of prey, and the site’s Interpretive Center will be open to visitors over the noon hour. The cost for each learner is $3 each, and bookings for this homeschool day must be made ahead of time.
The kids who attend this type of educational opportunity are often eager to learn. Providing each with a learning kit that includes promotional Pens, activity sheets, and other materials they can take home with them can encourage them to keep on making their own discoveries.
