The Marietta Police Athletic League is calling for local runners and walkers to get teams organized and registered for the upcoming in-person 6th Annual Marietta Shamrock Shuffle 5K Walk/Run.
Early registration ($30) can be done online before the end of January and will go up to $35 including onsite registration that can be done the day of the race starting at 7:00 am.
Packets, including T-Shirts sporting this this year’s event green and red graphic design, may be picked up the day before the race from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at 510 Lawrence Street at the Hugh L. Grogan Jr. Community Center.
Prizes will be given to the participant with the best Wearin’ O’ the Green and to the most Saint Paddy’s Day spirited kids. Awards will go to top three overall male and female finishers and to the top three finishers in seven age categories.
The race will be a Peachtree Road Race Qualifier, and proceeds will go to the youth recreation and sports programs in Marietta PAL.
A non-profit organization, Marietta PAL provides afterschool and summer camp programs for youth between the ages of 5 and 17. The organization is based at 510 Lawrence Street in the Lawrence Street Recreation Center.
The 5K will take place on March 12 at 9:00 am on Marietta Square. Warm-up and welcome will begin at 8:00 am.
