New pizzeria gets a slice of Marietta

Marco's Pizza, a chain that is growing rapidly throughout the nation, has opened a store in Marietta.

The location is on Delk Road, and it opened in Marietta on April 18.

Marco's was begun by a native Italian, which the company stresses adds to the authenticity of the ware, as well as being handmade and fresh. Also on the menu with pizza are salads, chicken tenders, subs, wings, and side dishes. Mohit Gupta, who is one of three investors in the new restaurant, says he is proud to call the food “close to authentic Italian”.

Marco's makes its own pizza dough, and the process is closely monitored. The chain always uses fresh cheese, and the ingredients are all sourced from vendors in the local area. The fresh, local ingredients have helped the pizza to receive positive reviews from diners.

Gupta thinks first-time diners should try the Pepperoni Magnifico, an award-winning pizza featuring pepperoni, roma seasoning, cheese, Marco's special pizza sauce, and old-world pepperoni. This pizza just won overall second place in the category of traditional pizza at the 2015 International Pizza Challenge.

Marco's could work with a flyer printing company to create a handout, including a coupon, for distribution near the restaurant during the first weeks of its operation, encouraging locals to give the diner a try in its early stages.
