Marietta will be honoring its veterans with at least three events leading up to and including Veterans Day.
Marietta Wine Market will host a Wine Tasting from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on October 23. Wine and snacks will be served, and proceeds will go to veterans’ charities.
The 7th Annual Veterans’ Memorial 5K will be back on November 13th. The 5K Run/Walk/Wheelchair will start the proceedings at 7:30 am on Marietta Square. That will be followed at 8:30 am with the 1K Run/Walk. The Tot Trot for little ones five years old and younger will begin at 8:45 am.
Registration will begin at $30 for those pre-registering before a week tomorrow, October 20. After that, they go up to $35 until November 10 and are $40 after that. The Tot Trot will be free.
Race Shirts featuring this year’s red, white, and blue graphic design will be included in registration or can be purchased for $25 on the event website.
Donations of $100 or more will have navy blue golf shirts sporting this year’s Logo Design as swag.
Local charities supported by the race will be Horace Orr Post 29, Inc. Veterans’ Assistance Fund, Shephard Center’s SHARE Military Initiative and the Georgia National Guard Family Support Foundation. The goal for this year’s race is $150,000.
Beginning at 9:00 am the Georgia Symphony Chorus and Brass Quintet will give a free Military Appreciation Celebration on Marietta Square.
