Marietta to host statewide scholarship scheme

Poster and banner printing are likely to have started ahead of the Distinguished Young Women of Georgia Scholarship Program, which will take place in the city next week.

The weeklong celebration, which culminates in the finals next weekend, will see 24 young women from across the state taking part in the Marietta event. They will all be competing for the $13,000 college scholarships on offer.

The winner will also spend the next 12 months representing the state and her local communities as the Distinguished Young Woman of Georgia for 2015.

The Distinguished Young Women contest is a rebranding of the America's Junior Miss Scholarship Program. Sponsors associated with the event include a number of local organizations and companies. Print companies will no doubt be helping ensure their names feature prominently on all event Stationery in recognition of their support.

The state finals for the event will be held from Friday, August 1 through Saturday, August 2. They will take place in the Performing Arts Center, which is located on the campus of Marietta High School. The Saturday show will see the winner of the competition crowned.

The shows on both days will start at 7:00 pm, with the doors opening at 6:30 pm. Anyone wanting to attend either of the shows can simply turn up and buy tickets on the door.
