Marietta to host annual fall event

A yearly festival celebrating the autumn season will be taking place in Marietta in mid-October.

The HarvestFest is a combination of several activities, with games, contests, and crafts. An area just for children aged 12 or younger will have inflatable bouncy houses, candy to fill their Bags, crafts, and carnival games within the venue space. Two age groups (6 to 12, and 13 and older) will have the chance to participate in a pie eating contest. The city will also be displaying vehicles such as tractors, fire trucks, and police cars.

A scarecrow decoration contest allows businesses, schools, non-profits, and other groups to bring a uniquely styled scarecrow and compete for various prizes. In addition to each category having its own award, there will be one for an overall winner. Participating groups are able to run an activity for kids or pass out candy. The contact for this and full details on the rules of the contest can be found through the city’s website.

A costume contest will take place for several age groups. The costumes must be handmade, and participants will need to show up around 1:30 pm to get their number, with the presentation starting at 2:00 pm.

A market full of handmade products will be available to shop from throughout the day. The full event will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Flyer printing will often be used to promote local festivals. The venue is Glover Park at Historic Marietta Square. Admission is free.
