Marietta runs through the holidays

Many Marietta fitness enthusiasts will be running with seasonal cheer.

Life University will be hosting its 6th annual Run the Lights of Light 5K/1K at the end of this month. The run will begin as the sun sets and participants will past through the campus light show. After the run, everyone is invited to stay for hot cocoa, s’mores, and caroling.

All participants will get free entry to the light show, and finisher medals that can be used for Christmas tree decorations. The 5K begins at 4:30 pm and the 1K will begin at 4:15 pm at the Life University track on November 30.

The 19th annual Sleighbells on the Square will be a 5K/1K and a Tot-Trot on December 14, with proceeds going to the Cobb Children’s Emergency Fund. All runners that register before December 2 are guaranteed a technical long-sleeved T-shirt touting the event’s graphic design, as well as jingle bells for their shoes.

Strand Theater will open for runners to warm-up with hot chocolate, coffee and a free film for the little ones. The 5K begins at 9:00 am, at 9:45 am the Tot Trot starts, and the 1K will begin at 10:00 am.

Another running event on the square will be Dashing Through the Square on December 21, starting with registration at 6:00 am. The timed 5K starts at 8:08 am with the untimed race beginning at 8:20 am. The Rudolph 1K will begin at 9:30 am.
