Cobb County Animal Services will be holding their annual Fast and Furry 5K at the end of June.
Dogs and their humans, or just humans, can sign-up for the $25 Early Bird special. For those participants not wanting the swag (a T-shirt sporting the event graphic design) the cost goes down to $20. There is a virtual 5k for those unable to participate on that particular day and that will cost the same as the special. Everything goes up $10 on race day.
The event actually is two-fold. One is to raise funds for the shelter and the other is an effort to get 50 cats and dogs adopted during race time.
Individuals and teams can get discounts on their entry fees by bringing friends, neighbors, and co-workers. For example, those who bring five or more runner will receive a 10% discount while those bringing 11 or more will get a 15% discount. If a team or an individual can get $200 or more in pledges they can run for free.
The fastest team in the race will receive a trophy as will the fastest dog, the overall male and female finisher, the overall master, grand master and senior male and female. Awards will also be handed out to the top three finishers in each of the 14 age divisions.
The Fast & Furry 5K will be Saturday, June 30 at 1220 Al Bishop Drive starting at 8:00 am.
