Marietta plans for busy weekend

Marietta residents will not only have to mark their Calendars, but also set up itineraries for a weekend coming up this month.

The area will be having a streetfest, a parade, a festival, trolley tours, a farmers’ market, and a food tour. About 60 vendors will be selling fresh produce at the farmers’ market, while the Historic Marietta Trolley Company will be conducting tours that will take riders from downtown on the square past Antebellum mansions, to Kennesaw Mountain’s battlefields. Marietta Food tours will be three-hour walking tours of seven eateries on the Square.

Marietta Streetfest will have its traditional arts and craft booths, the Hubs and History Cruise-in, and a Kids’ Zone. The Grassroots Music Festival will be in the evening.

Across town, the East Cobber Parade and Festival will be in full swing.

All events will take place on the weekend of September 16 and 17. The Trolley Tours will begin at 10:00 am, the farmers’ market opens at 9:00 am, the food tour begins at 11:00 am, and Marietta Streetfest will be Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, all on Historic Marietta Square.

The East Cobber Parade will begin at 10:00 am in the parking lot of the Mount Bethel Elementary School, 1210 Johnson Ferry Road. The Cobber Festival will begin right after the parade in the Johnson Ferry Baptist Church parking lot at 955 Johnson Ferry Road, Marietta.
