The Annual Yaarab Shirine Circus and Carnival will be coming to town for the 76th year. Ringmaster Rickard Curtis will be introducing 25 acts – covering the old favorite ones such as the Shrine Circus Clowns, and several new ones as well.
New to Marietta this year will be the flying trapeze troupe the Fabulous Flying Bells and the Castle Performing Bears. Saturn the Human Bullet will be performing above the audience and the Great Daredevil Garcia will be carrying out feats of daring on the Wheel of Thrill.
Anthony Thomas will be returning with his Tarzan Zerbini Elephants, and Erika Zerbini will be bringing her Zerbini Horses. A large fireworks show will close each evening’s performance.
Out on the grounds, the Tricky Dog Show, Cowboy Woody, Tree Man and the children’s favorite Lew-E’s Comedy Circus Show will be performing free of charge. The carnival will have 35 rides, games and attractions. This year, the circus will offer specials throughout its run.
Local sponsors will need to get their information to the organizers before the circus program is taken to one of the area’s local Print shops.
The circus and carnival are scheduled for May 18 through 28 at Jim R. Miller Park, 2245 Callaway Road. Monday through Friday performances start at 5:00 pm, Saturday and Memorial Day at 10:00 am and Sundays at noon. Proceeds go to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
