Marietta goes all out for Halloween

Marietta has designated one day this month to all things Halloween, with three activities all occurring in downtown Marietta.

The first event will be the 41st Annual HarvestFest. This will be a festival featuring arts and crafts. Among the exhibits will be jewelry, woodworking, pottery, painting, and other fine arts. Local antique stores and arts and crafts shops will be open as well.

Kids can go to the Touch a Truck interactive, and attend a costume contest in the afternoon. A pet costume contest will begin right after the contest.

Halloween Happenings will also be a part of the festivities that day. This is an event for little ones aged 12 years and younger. It will have carnival games and activities geared to the younger set.

Winners of the Scarecrows in the Square will be announced during the festival. Local schools and school organizations have been busily creating scarecrows to enter in this year’s contest. Judging will be based on presentation, construction, and originality. Scarecrows will be named and themed either to represent the school or club, or represent a historic Marietta figure. Entries will have Banners or Signs with the school information and the scarecrows' bios.

These three events are slated for Marietta Square on October 21. HarvestFest will run from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm, Halloween Happenings will go from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm, and the Scarecrow winners will be announced at 1:45 pm.
