Independence Day is just around the corner and the City of Marietta will again be hosting the annual parade, festival and fireworks.
The Marietta Freedom Parade will have area bands, scouts, floats, beauty queens, local civic organizations and businesses. One hundred entries will have over 2,000 participants some of whom will be carrying Banners. Over 30,000 spectators are expected to line the parade route.
The 1.5-mile parade will begin at Roswell Street Baptist Church. It will proceed on down Roswell Street and turn north onto East Park Square. It will go past Glover Park, onto Cherokee Street and finish at North Marietta Parkway.
The free festival will open right at the end of the parade. There will be carnival games and museum tours. Entertainment will include Scott Tompson, the Atlanta Concert Band, Presley Sullivan and Zach Seabaugh. The National Bell Ringing Ceremony will take place at 2 pm followed by the float contest awards ceremony.
An arts and crafts show will feature about 100 exhibitors. Food vendors will also be on site and local Marietta Square restaurants will be open, too. The Kid’s Zone will be an interactive play area. Fireworks will begin at dusk.
The celebration will be Tuesday, July the 4th. The parade will be at 10:00 am. The festival will be at Marietta Square, 4 Depot Street, Marietta and close after the fireworks which will start around 9:30 pm.
