Marietta explores its historical homes

The Marietta Pilgrimage Christmas Home Tour will be held this weekend, taking a tour of six historic homes.

One stop will be the Read-Jevey-Grieve House at 381 Cherokee Street. This Queen Anne cottage was originally included in the Ivy Grove Plantation.

The Keeler-Harpenau House at 392 Cherokee Street, with its turret, gingerbread detailing, and wrap-around porch, is an elegant Queen Anne Victorian. Traditionally, Stationery printers love to use houses such as this for stylish Letterheads.

An English Tudor home at 446 Cherokee Street, the Roberts-Jones-Fricker House, still has its original floor plan and is filled with early American antiques and primitives.

The McEachern-Patterson House at 519 Church Street, with its French Eclectic style turret, is thought to have been a wedding gift.

Another stop will be the Willingham-Micheletto House at 493 Church Street, which has been restored to its 1924 grandeur.

The last stop, at 401 Church Street, will be a Queen Anne-style home featuring ionic columns supporting the large wrap-around front porch and a three-bay façade.

Guests can also tour Marietta’s seasonally decorated historic public buildings. A black-tie gala on the evening before the Home Tour will be replete with music, dining and dancing.

The Christmas Home Tour is slated for this Saturday, December 1, from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm, and December 2 from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm. The Pilgrimage Gala precedes it on Friday from 7:30 pm until 11:00 pm at the Whitlock Inn.
