Marietta area college to host expressive event

A local school will be holding another edition of an annual event in mid-March. The creative celebration is sure to be fun for Marietta residents.

The Spring Arts Festival is an opportunity to highlight both performance and visual arts, and it is hosted by Kennesaw State University. Open to community members of all ages, the event features contests, displays, and interactive elements.

The Pin-Up Show is a competition with four divisions of entries, these being elementary school, middle school, high school, and the community. In order for the artwork to be entered, the finished piece has to be able to be held up using just four thumb tacks. Any form of media is permitted as long as that rule is followed. Art can be submitted between the hours of 11:00am and 1:00pm. Judging will then follow from 1:00pm to 2:00pm, with prizes and awards being given at 2:30pm.

Other activities and presentations available during the festival include painting, inclusive arts, soft sculpture, a fashion show, photo collages, quick setting resin pieces, a workshop on Asian Calligraphy Art, Apparel designing, printmaking, and portrait drawing. Poster printing is often used to promote festivals like this one.

Attending the event is completely free. The venue is the Chastain Pointe 115 Studios, which is on KSU’s campus in Kennesaw. The event is set to last from 11:00am to 3:00pm on March 18th.
