Marietta area brings in the holiday season

Marietta will be ushering in the holidays with events ranging from Santa’s arrival to the traditional Stand Theater Christmas program.

Santa’s arrival on Marietta Square will coincide with the city’s tree lighting ceremony.

In a scene fit for Holiday Cards, Kennesaw Heritage will have its traditional open house with Victorian decorations and artifacts. A brass quintet will be the entertainment and refreshments will be served. The town will also have Santa Day on December 7 in downtown Kennesaw, with snow tubing, crafts, a parade, and a petting zoo.

Georgia Symphony Orchestra will be performing its annual holiday pops concert. The program will include excerpts from the Nutcracker, Many Moods of Christmas Suite by Rutter, and Christmas favorites such as Sleigh Ride.

‘A Christmas Tradition’ will be playing at the Strand Theater. The performance will include holiday classics such as Santa Baby and White Christmas. Other selections will be Feliz Navidad, Leroy the Redneck Reindeer and Run, Rudolph Run.

Local school choirs will be performing starting at 5:00 pm at the Santa Arrival. Santa will be there at 5:20 pm and will light the tree at 6:00 pm. Kids can talk with the old elf at the gazebo until 8:00 pm.

The Kennesaw Heritage Open House will be December 6 and 7 at Community House, 2838 Big Shanty Road. The Holiday Pops concert will perform at 3:00 pm and 8:00 pm at the Murray Arts Center, Kennesaw and the Strand Theater program will run the first three December weekends.
