Although cancelled during May, Marietta’s Park and Recreation and the City of Marietta are inviting everyone to bring their chairs and blankets for outdoor dining and music this September.
Locals are invited to eat outdoors – either bringing their own food or supporting one of the local restaurants - around Glover Park on the Historic Marietta Square during September. On Thursdays, live bands will be performing as part of Marietta’s Brown Bag Lunch Concert Series.
Ben Bostick will open the concert series on September 3. A native Georgian, Bostick is a one-man band country singer and songwriter. He will be followed the next Thursday, September 10 by the funk band G Clef & the Playlist Duo.
On September 17, the Cobb New Horizons Symphonic Band will take to stage. This is a concert band of 93 senior citizens with music backgrounds playing dance tunes and songs from the big band era.
The Happy Wanderers will end the series on September 24. Happy Wanderers is a five–member German band that plays traditional polkas, waltzes and marches originating from Austria, Switzerland, and Germany. The program usually has some not-so-traditional additions, too. The staple instruments for this group are the euphonium, tuba, clarinet and soprano/alto sax, and a tenor saxophone.
